The starter solenoid is an electrical component that
controls the operation of the starter motor. When the ignition key is turned,
the solenoid transmits electrical current to the starter motor, enabling the
engine to start.
The solenoid in the starter motor has two main functions:
To
engage the pinion with the engine’s flywheel by pushing the pinion forward
To
close the copper disc that allows the main current to flow to the starter
motor
